Our guild library holds over 300 titles on quilting, embellishment, art quilts, manufacturers color cards, and allied textile arts. We update the catalog as new items are added. Check the NeedleChasers newsletter for information on recent acquisitions. Subjects include:
- Art quilts and traditional quilts
- Basic “how-to” lessons and advanced techniques
- Machine and hand quilting, and quilt embellishment
- Projects ranging from baby quilts to bed quilts, from home décor to wearable art
- Color cards for threads and fabrics
We have an online catalog you can browse by subject, title, author, and subject tags

Although you can technically check books out from home, you obviously can not get the books or items until you attend a guild event at Harlow Hall. We can not guarantee that someone else might take the book before you get there using the paper based check out (until replaced with a tablet.) We therefore encourage you to wait until the day of the meeting to check out an item from home, or to wait and check out the book in Harlow Hall from your smartphone or tablet. We will still offer paper list checkout for a few months until we get a tablet available for general use at Harlow Hall.
After you browse the catalog and select the item you want, complete these steps to checkout the item:
- Click the CheckOut button
- Enter the case-sensitive password ChevyChase
- Choose your name from the list of all patrons.
- Click OK button to complete the checkout process.
- You will receive an email shortly after you complete the process that confirms your transaction and tells you the due date.
- You will receive an email about a week before the due date to remind you to return your item.
Members may check out an item for two months, as a benefit of membership.
- The guild library is located at the North Chevy Chase Christian Church where the guild meets. The items will be available to browse whenever the guild meets in Harlow Hall and for 15-20 minutes immediately after the meeting. Members are invited to browse and check out books at these times.
- We welcome recommendations for additions to the library. Please only request books that you know are familiar with and believe to be good additions. We welcome your comments on the quality of our books and items to help us keep the library focused and relevant. Send comments to Fran Card (cardf@verizon.net) or Becky Lavash(ralavash@gmail.com)
