Mark Your Calendars for NeedleChasers next quilt show, "Just Around the Block,"
at the Kensington, Maryland, Town Hall, 3710 Mitchell St.:
Friday, October 5, and Saturday, October 6, 2018.

In October 2016, NeedleChasers welcomed nearly 700 visitors to our 20th quilt show,
Quilting Green: Traditions Grow in New Directions!
Those visitors were asked to choose their favorites from among the more than 200 quilts on display.
The talented winners in the main show were:

Marty Fry, First Place for "Ladies of the Sea"

Diane Garrison, Second Place for "Grandmother's Compost"

Anne Brill, Third Place for "Vintage Farmhouse"
Visitors were also asked to choose a favorite from among the Challenge Quilts. These creations expressed our members interpretation of the show's theme, Quilting Green: Traditions Grow in New Directions! The Challenge Quilt winners were:

Debbie Land-Mechanick, First Place for "Promise of Spring"
Kim Kellman, tied for second with "My Garden"
Joan Stogis, tied for second with "Frog and Flower"
Anne Brill, third place with "Greensleeves"

"Community Garden"-- 2016 Opportunity Quilt

"Community Garden," NeedleChasers of Chevy Chase's 2016 queen-size opportunity quilt, showcases the fresh greens of a garden plot. It reflects the theme of our 2016 quilt show: "Quilting Green: Traditions Grow in New Directions." Making the quilt was a cooperative effort: One guild member designed the top, and many members took part in cutting the fabrics and sewing the blocks, borders, and binding. Guild member Marina Baudoin did the exquisite machine quilting, incorporating garden motifs in harmony with the design. A unique aspect of the quilt is that the back is as interesting as the front. We are pleased that our very own Rebecca Higgins was the lucky winner!
